Use a gel for your face. Hair conditioner works great for ';down there';
I usually use the same one I use to do my legs with which is Skintimate or something but I forget what the guy equivillent is...

Hair conditioner is like a heavy moisturizer similar to a shave cream. It softens the hair prior to shaving.
