I am in in my 14th week of pregnancy. I have very tiny bump currently. Should I start applying this now? Please suggest a body cream or oil to prevent stretchmarks?
I used Whaler's lotion-bought it at walmart and also Palmer's cocoa butter. Did not eliminate stretch marks but kept them fro being so noticeable. Also can bust open vitamin E capsule and use oil inside to rub on belly. That is what is in most ointments for reducing the visibilty of scars. And that is what my doctor told me to use on my incision from my surgery to reduce the visibilty of my scar. Please suggest a body cream or oil to prevent stretchmarks?
Start now- keeping it mousturized will help prevent. It is mostly genetic and has to do with your skin's elasticity though. I think though, that if you use something like cocoa butter, palmers or Bella Bee Tummy Butter it may help them not be as bad as they could potentially be. I'm 23 wks and have been using palmers, regular cocoa butter lotion, bella bee tummy butter and sometimes vaseline since I was about 14 wks and I don't have any stretch marks yet- we'll see though!
Any of these can be found at Walgreens, CVS, Wal Mart, etc.
Mineral oil it works it's not expensive and it's easy to find. Also it's a natural product and you can also start rubbing it on your vagina now and it will help your skin stretch during delivery. Believe me, no stitches is a wonderful thing not to have to deal with when you have a newborn. I learned this the hard way. Good luck to you and your new little family.
well like the others said use some cocoa butter cream or lotion but do use it on daily basis.there is no stopping the stretching of the skin but you can help your skin stretch without cracking out of its limits... drink loads n loads of water that would stop your skin from over drying and maintain the natural balance not just for your skin but also other body systems and you'll be saved from infections too and alongside use cocoa butter cream to keep it soft and smooth.
however, my doc clearly told me that if i want to use some cream its upto me but they usually dont have an effect if you are a bit chubby b4 you got preg then the chances are your body will overstretch but if u reduced your weight before getting preg then the body might not overstetch etc
so do use it even if by the end of your preg you see stretch marks on you atleast you wont blame yourself for not having used it and there wont be any regrets...lol
Well, a couple things....
I found out that stretch marks are hereditary :( So... sometimes you can't prevent it! :( But, I also read that slow healthy weight gain helps to decrease your chances (allowing your body to work it's way to size)... and, the cocoa butter seems to do great with keeping your skin moist and elastic so it helps decrease chances some too...
Good luck and congrats!
i swear by bio oil it certainly wont prevent them however makes the skin more supple and strech marks less noticable, i get my partner to rub it on my tum thighs and hips and the wee bit at the very top of my legs just below my bum its a good chance to just lie back chill and relax and get massaged by your partner enjoy
Heck Yes! Apply now! Keep you belly lathered up. I think any nice lotion that is low in alcohol works fine. Another thing I like to do is while in the shower I rub baby oil on my belly (All over actually) This actually traps moisture under the skin too leaving your skin very soft and smooth. Just towel dry like normal. Also keep in mind sometimes you just can't avoid stretch marks. You sure can help them not be so bold though. Good Luck!
start applying as soon as possible...that way you can hydrate your skin and give it a little more elasticity. I used just the simple cocoa butter and the only place I got stretch marks was on the back of my thighs, where I didn't think to put any cream.
This is wierd, but I agree with the ladies saying BIO oil. BELIEVE it or not my first 2 pregnancy tore my stomach up with stretch marks. I started using bio oil on this pregnancy and it seems to be fading my previous marks and I do not use it every night.
I have Palmers at home and I dont have any stretch marks. I am not sure if I would have them if I wasn;t using the cream so I don't actually know how well it works, but I got it from Motherhood Maternity for like 5 bucks and they sell it other places as well.
There's no such thing as preventing stretch marks.. no matter what the bottles of lotion say.. I have palmers cocoa butter lotion, but all this does is make your skin more elastic to stretch.. if your body develops stretch marks, its going to whether you try and stop it or not.
You can try to stop it, but it won't help much. Either you're going to get them or you're not.
Just use a lot of lotion every day to keep your skin hydrated and MAYBE it'll help a little.
Cocoa butter is suggested. But if it is meant for you to get the stretch marks there is nothing you can do. Laser treatment post baby might work if the stretchmarks come.
Good luck!
I used mink oil. I think no matter what if you are prone to get stretch marks you will, but I used this and it really helped. It kept them from getting dark and it keeps your skin sooooooooo soft.
If you use bio oil or even cocoa butter, you can apply them to prevent stretch marks, so yes use them now, and you can also use bio oil whilst in the bath. It does work really well
I'm 13 weeks and already i'm using bio oil, it is supposed to prevent strech marks, i'm sure if these ils and creams actually work but no harm in trying hey.
Sure. I statrted applying early on and I'm 6 months with no stetch marks. I use Palmers's Cocoa butter but anything that contains vitamin E, collagen or elastin will work just as well.
COngrats by they way!
Palmer's Coconut Stick. Used it every day and I don't have a single stretch mark. Have two wonderful daughter and not a single mark.
Definitely Palmer's brand. You can get it at Babies R Us or motherhood maternity.
Bio oil is very good, put it on 2 times a day on your stretch marks and they seriously go away like magic!
I tried 4 or 5 different creams and oils for my first pregnancy... None of them worked... I still got stretch marks... It all really depends on how big your belly gets
Go for it.....but honestly nothing really works. I was concerned as well and did lots of research. It seems it just keeps your skin from drying out...but when your skin is streatching...there's no stopping it!!
palm cocoa butter lotion is what i use. i am 12 weeks and use it now.
Bio Oil and cocoa butter both work. Yes start now!
cocoa butter works goood!
