What's the difference between body lotion, body butter, and body cream?

This may be a stupid question but I honestly don't know the difference. Don't they all just make you skin soft %26amp; smooth? What's the difference? Is one better then the others? I know body butter usually costs more.





They sell all three at Bath %26amp; Body Works so they can't be the same thing, and they sell both lotion and butter at VS.What's the difference between body lotion, body butter, and body cream?

I love body butter but it is expensive unless they have a sale. I use Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula for dry ashy skin and it works just as good


What's the difference between body lotion, body butter, and body cream?
Body butter is very thick- thick like say well butter, its kind of like stripless wax- without the hardening (unless you leave it open) it is usually a cocoa butter base and some contain ';fatty acids'; which moisturizes the skin. The scent of body butter and the effect lasts much longer than lotion. Cream is a whipped semi thick based product- not as common as body butter or body lotion. Lotion is the thinnest of all of them with a water based formula, it's very light weight and doesn't moisturize as well or last as long as butter or cream. Often people use body butter for legs, feet, elbows and hands. Lotion is used on places like arms and stomach, thighs but if you have really dry skin every where- use body butter everywhere. :)
Body butter is very thick and rich, body lotion is medim thick (but its mainly a general term, you can get lots of different kinds) and body cream is thinner and silkier. Body butter gives of the most moisture. :)
